Cooking over a fire

I get asked, quite frequently, whether we ever cook on the wood stove. The answer is yes.

Now, it doesn’t happen terribly often because we haven’t had many days this year where a fire was needed during the day. However, if there's a fire already going, I hardly see the point in paying fuel costs to run the generator when there’s two hot burners right there.

I do not, however, build a fire just to cook. It would be silly to heat the house to 100 degrees when there are other options, plus we don’t want to burn through all our wood when there is still cold temperatures ahead of us.

In fact, there is snow predicted for next week, so my second son spent yesterday afternoon splitting wood for both The Cottage & Blue.
